GRADES 5-12: Two years ago, we decided to remix how we taught Literacy to our 8th graders. Typically, the resources we relied on were an outdated textbook, writing and grammar textbook, and our Scholastic magazine subscription. Through collaboration with two teachers at Central who teach Urban Leadership, we were able to steer away from traditional instruction and resources to a more engaging approach. At this session we will share how we blended the district curriculum guide with themes that students are more engaged in -- we will finish by focusing on a fun, easy to use websites and apps that we used this year: BeFunky, Dafont, StencilGram, Wordle, Pixlr, Image Chef, and Animoto.
